When we fall short, make a mistake, or make the wrong decision it’s very easy to shift the blame. Whether that be onto someone else, the circumstances, or any of the million things that are happening in your life right now, it is very tempting to ignore the part you play in your own life. This is the wrong way to live, and I promise you is only stifling your progress. Having accountability for your own actions is beyond important for anyone paving their own path through life. If nothing is ever your fault, you never grow and learn to avoid that mistake the next time. Without accountability all you have is excuses, and excuses cause you to remain stagnant, and give you a comfortable place for your dreams to die. On top of that, if you do manage to succeed despite not holding yourself accountable, problems begin to arise. Imposter is defined as “the persistent inability to believe that one's success is deserved or has been legitimately achieved as a result of one's own efforts or skills.” If you don’t believe you are responsible for your failures deep down you won’t think of yourself as responsible for your success. So choose accountability. Responsibility leads to confidence, and confidence leads to success.
