I’ve been fortunate enough to have a couple people ask me for advice on starting a brand of their own. I’ve come to the conclusion that the most important answer to this question is to start wherever you are, wherever you can, but start right now. Experience is by far the best teacher, and forever irreplaceable. I could share mistakes I’ve made, and tips for beginners but everyone’s journey is different and mistakes are unavoidable regardless of warnings. If you are wondering where to start, that means you have an idea, and that is more than enough. Start now. Create a shitty mock-up, write a horrible rough draft, post that video you think isn't good enough. Failure is bound to come knocking, and when it does, let it in. Failure is the only path towards improvement, and an inevitable stepping stone on your journey. So go seek it out, continuing to push the limit until you get your first taste of failure. Be honest with yourself, learn from it, and do it all over again. So that brings us back to starting. The most common excuse is fear of judgement from others, often fearing what they will think when you inevitably fail. The thing is, everyone wants to try something, everyone has an idea they are to scared to put into action. Behind every hate comment, or mocking laugh is someone who envies your ambition. So start today, put it all out there, trip, fall, get back up, because life is too short to push off your dreams because of what other people think.
